Overview

The purpose of this RFP is to invite Prospective Consultants to submit their Proposals for Architectural Services for the Design, Construction and Fit Out (theatrical and other) of a new Court Theatre and Public Realm on the Performing Arts Precinct (PAP) in central Christchurch.

The appointed Architect will lead the Design Team for the Court Theatre building from concept design to completion of construction and handover.

The objective of this RFP process is to obtain sufficiently detailed and credible information from Prospective Consultants about their respective organisations, capability, experience, and their ability to provide the Services.

In awarding a contract to a Consultant, the Council intends to achieve:

 Best value for Christchurch ratepayers, and the wider community;
 Alignment with its strategic objectives;
o Environmental sustainability
o Social responsibility
o Economic benefit
 Efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of the Services;
 Development of a new fit for purpose Court Theatre building.
 Development of an attractive public realm across the entire site

The Council invites Prospective Consultants to provide suggestions on how they might work with the Council to minimise costs and/or increase efficiency.

The Services for this RFP will be procured as one package. They include, but are not limited to:

1) Architectural design – the Lead Architect:
o Design and design management (final concept through to detailed design);
o A client-nominated *Theatre Consultant (theatre architect and theatre services) will work as a sub-consultant to the lead architect
o Fit-out design and full integration
o BIM management
2) **Acoustic Engineer – integrate acoustic performance requirements and treatments with the Court Theatre
3) Façade Engineer – development and integrations of an attractive and eye-catching facade
4) Wayfinding design – integration of wayfinding and signage within the Court Theatre and Public Realm
5) Urban and landscape design – development of an attractive and welcoming public realm. In conjunction with Christchurch City Council’s team.
