Overview

Christchurch City Council (the Council) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI’s) from suitably qualified contractors (Respondents) who are interested in delivering Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings Stage 1 to the Council.

The Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings were severely damaged following the 2010/2011 earthquakes. Following works to stabilise and protect the Council are now beginning phased restoration and reconstruction of the buildings. Stage 1 consist of the Timber Buildings along Durham and Armagh Streets including the stone Durham Safes and the Armagh Street Tower. The Project Team of consultants have advanced a design for the repair and restoration of Stage 1 to Developed Design and Council are seeking a suitable Main Contractor experienced in heritage projects to carry out the works. Detailed Design will be completed in November 2016 with the RFP/RFT process following immediately afterwards. It is intended that the selected Main Contractor is engaged in early 2017 and works start in late March/early April 2017.

The purpose of this EOI is to prequalify and shortlist suitable Respondents. The EOI process involves a quality attribute evaluation methodology. EOI submissions should clearly demonstrate the Respondent's proven abilities in relation to the key aspects of the Contract Works. It is anticipated that shortlisted Respondents will then be asked to provide commercial proposals under an RFP/RFT process.
