Overview

Christchurch City Council has partnered with a cross section of leading public and private sector organisations who share the vision for an efficient, sustainable, healthy, cost-effective and zero tail pipe emission transport solution. There is an opportunity for a Shared Fleet Operator to provide a shared 100% battery electric, zero tail pipe emissions, compact car fleet (Shared Fleet) service for Christchurch organisations and residents.

The aims of the Shared Fleet project are to:
 achieve health and environmental outcomes through zero tail pipe emission transport.
 reduce the number of cars in Christchurch and lead the transition to zero tail pipe emission vehicles.
 expose more people to electric vehicles and encourage greater use of electric vehicles.
 align with global ambitions to reduce carbon emissions, as agreed at the Paris climate conference, and with the New Zealand Government’s target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 30 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030.

Eleven Christchurch organisations have committed to participate in the formal procurement process to engage a Shared Fleet Operator to provide a shared 100% electric compact car fleet, with zero tail pipe emissions, for Council and its shared fleet partners.

Christchurch is becoming a world-class boutique city, where people enjoy a sustainable lifestyle, a healthy environment, a strong economic base and the diverse landscapes of the city and peninsula. This vision for our city is a goal that is on-going and history is being made here every day – seize the opportunity, come be a part of it with us.
