Bay of Plenty Regional Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced civil construction contractors for the delivery of the Whakatāne Project Future Proof – Stage 4B.
This project forms part of Council’s ongoing programme to improve flood protection infrastructure and community resilience within Whakatāne.
The contract involves the demolition and replacement of existing flood protection assets, construction of new reinforced concrete floodwalls, earthworks, drainage and utility works, service relocations, pavement and footpath reinstatement, traffic management, environmental management, and all associated temporary works. Contractors must demonstrate relevant experience in complex civil infrastructure projects, flood protection works, environmental compliance, stakeholder management, and construction within constrained urban environments.
Council is seeking a contractor that can safely and efficiently deliver the works while maintaining flood protection throughout construction and minimising disruption to local businesses, residents, road users, and utility providers.
Tenderers are expected to provide robust construction methodologies, strong health and safety practices, and a commitment to achieving positive social, environmental and economic outcomes, including local workforce development, sustainability initiatives, and Māori business participation. The successful contractor will work collaboratively with Council and project stakeholders to deliver a high-quality flood resilience outcome for the Whakatāne community.
