Bay of Plenty Regional Council is seeking a suitably qualified civil construction contractor to deliver Whakatāne Project Future Proof – Stage 3B.
The works involve reinstating and enhancing flood protection infrastructure adjacent to the Commercial Wharf along the true right bank of the Whakatāne River, including:
-Site clearance and removal of existing structures, vegetation, floodwall sections, pavement and stormwater assets.
-Pavement works, including excavation, footpath reconstruction, kerb and channel installation, concrete works, and reinstatement.
-Pipe works, including removal and reinstatement of existing stormwater infrastructure and associated drainage works.
-Construction of a new floodwall, including sheet pile installation, foundations, capping beams, and cast in-situ concrete wall panels.
-Relocation and reinstatement of streetlight poles, electrical services, and other affected utilities.
-Topsoiling, landscaping, and reinstatement of disturbed areas.
The contractor will be responsible for maintaining flood protection during construction, implementing environmental, erosion and sediment control measures, and managing traffic, pedestrian access, and stakeholder communications to minimise disruption to businesses and the public. Responsibilities also include project management, site supervision, survey and set-out, utility protection and coordination, quality assurance, preparation of as-built documentation, and compliance with all health and safety, environmental, consent, and contract requirements.
