This project involves the construction of approximately 2m wide footpath for a length of 400 meters on Station Road, Penrose between Maurice Road and O’ Rourke Road as part of the New footpath programme 2014-15.
At the moment there is no footpath to cater to the needs of pedestrians on a road with high traffic volumes causing people to walk on the grass berm.
Provision of a footpath will ensure the safety and comfort of pedestrians like children attending Te Papa School. This project will bridge a vital gap in the footpath network and serve heavy pedestrian traffic considering its location. The footpath is located in a key commercial and employment area. It lies on a vital PT route with bus stops and Penrose Train station in the nearby vicinity. Huge volumes of pedestrian traffic generated from Mt Smart stadium also use this route.
The individual components along the route include
• A 2.0m footpath; 1.0m width on existing berm and 1.0m width on existing carriageway.
• Alteration to the existing road marking and reduction in the lane width
• Removal of parking on the side of the footpath
• Relocation of existing power pole
• New Street Lighting.
• Working in close proximity of 2 Pylons.
• Working in close vicinity to Kiwi Rail overhead Electrification
• Removal of Trees

In accordance with Auckland Transport’s prequalification procedures this contract has been classified as level AT2A. Only those contractors prequalified to or above this level are eligible to submit a tender for this contract.
