Overview

AT is in the process of planning procurement processes to procure Ferry Charging Infrastructure using an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) delivery model. Charging Infrastructure is required at up to nine locations on the Auckland ferry network over several stages from 2024 to 2030, in alignment with the staged rollout of fully electric and plug-in hybrid ferries.

For delivery of ‘Stage 1’ of the Ferry Charging roll-out program infrastructure is required at the following locations by Q3/Q4 2024;

• Downtown Ferry Terminal (DTFT) Pier 2
• DTFT Pier 4
• DTFT Pier 5
• Half Moon Bay Ferry terminal
• Hobsonville Point Ferry Terminal

Subject to future funding availability charging infrastructure may be required in several stages from 2025-2030 for additional piers at DTFT and the wider ferry services network.

The scope is multidisciplinary with an electrical focus including; emerging technology, multiple interfaces, challenging locations and technical complexities. Subject to market feedback AT will go to market for two main contract packages;
