Subsidence has occurred at three locations on the eastern side of the Messenger Road carriageway between RP270m and RP465m.

The subsidence has resulted in the formation of longitudinal cracking within the eastern side of the road including the crest of the roadside shoulder. The remediation works will comprise the installation of staggered shear lock piles within the roadside shoulder to provide lateral support and mitigate the potential for on-going subsidence.
