Ngarewa Drive has been identified on the Auckland Transport Seal Extension Prioritisation list as the 2nd highest priority project. It is proposed to seal the unsealed section between approx. RP105m and RP605m in the 2019/20 financial year.

The project works will comprise around 500m of seal extension, starting from the Mahurangi West Road end through to the existing sealed section towards Sullivans Bay Campgrounds. The works will typically include, pavement construction, associated stormwater works, signage, and installation of traffic control and safety devices.
