Overview

By 2043 Auckland is projected to grow by more than 1 million people. While the majority of this growth is planned to occur within the existing urban area, 15,000 hectares of Future Urban land (including 1400 hectares for new business) has been zoned in the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan. The zoning focuses on the following areas:
• -North – Warkworth, Wainui and Silverdale-Dairy Flat
• -North-west — Whenuapai, Redhills, Kumeu-Huapai and Riverhead
• -South — Takanini, Opaheke-Drury, Drury-West, Paerata and Pukekohe.
There is an immediate need to identify and protect transportation corridors that will support Auckland’s future urban growth areas. The programme of corridors including extensions to rapid transit networks, a network of arterial transport corridors and state highway improvements is known as the ‘Transport Networks for Growth’, previously known as Transport for Future Urban Growth (TFUG). Execution of the programme will require the integrated use of business cases to identify and justify corridors using the information gathered to route protect future corridors through the RMA process.

Auckland Transport is developing its procurement strategy for professional services to deliver route protection for transport corridors within the Transport Networks for Growth programme. This Market Soundings Notice seeks to identify suppliers who wish to discuss with AT how this work can be best delivered.
The purpose of this exercise is to gather input and feedback from industry to assess the reaction of the market to the approach and inform the procurement strategy. The primary objectives of this process are to:
• Obtain early feedback from the market on potential procurement considerations
• Discuss options and the anticipated programme and process with the industry
• Gather information to contribute to and refine our delivery proposals
