Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience (HWFR) is responsible for managing and improving the health of Auckland’s harbours and waterways, including operating and maintaining the stormwater network and providing flood response.
HWFR currently has a regional contract for the regular cleaning and maintenance of the catchpit assets in urban areas and specific rural town centres of the region. The contract work includes inspection, cleaning, data capture, reporting, and other works required by Auckland Council from time to time. The services included within the current scope have an annual cost of approximately $5.0 million.
Auckland Council is now taking the first step in the procurement process for the next set of contracts to commence on 1 July 2028.
This RFI is part of the early supplier engagement process with responses used to develop the methodology around how the services will be procured and delivered. This is a significant opportunity for suppliers who have the skills and experience to deliver these services to Auckland Council.
Auckland Council wishes to understand the full extent of services that individual suppliers can provide, as well as any innovative technology or approaches that should be considered when procuring the services. We also welcome any views around how the services should be structured, i.e. move to area-based contracts or incorporate road sweeping services for better coordination.
