WHAT WE NEED
He uru whenua ki Tāmaki Herenga Waka mai i te marae ātea o Tangaroa
The site of ritual welcome into Tāmaki Herenga Waka from the realm of Tangaroa

The Wynyard Point and public realm design is one of the most significant design projects for open space in the centre of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland in over a century.

Part of both the City Centre Master Plan (CCMP) and the Waterfront Plan (2012), the park (5ha+) will sit on the Wynyard Point of Wynyard Quarter surrounded on three sides by the Waitematā Harbour. In addition to the park, the public realm will be inclusive of the streets and other accessible spaces that are on Wynyard Point, north of Jellicoe Street.

This Request for Expressions of Interest will identify three to five teams to be shortlisted to proceed to the second procurement phase, with a Request for Proposal, to appoint the lead design team.

The appointment of the design consortium will be for:
+Concept, preliminary and developed design for the public open space, wharf, streets and laneways.
+Provide information and take part in engagement and consultation.
+Design strategies to maintain and enhance the existing infrastructure of Wynyard Point, and enable future development opportunities.

The public space design for Wynyard Point should:
+Create an enduring mana whenua presence through effective engagement.
+Deliver community outcomes though use of public spaces for a wide variety of events, big and small.
+Integrate the requirement for private development of the waterfront sites to optimise returns from the Eke Panuku-managed property portfolio.
+Intergrate sustainable outputs and objectives of the Te Ara Tukutuku Plan.

WHAT WE DON’T WANT
Out of scope:
+Detailed design, tender documentation and site observation.
+Architectural design of the
. Marine Industries Precinct to the north of Silo Park west.
. Private development within the Wynyard Point sites.
+Public realm projects for Silo Park and south of Jellicoe Street (Wynyard Plaza).
+Public transport infrastructure projects, such as bus, ferry and light rail.
+Proposals for iconic buildings.
