PIN_2293 Catchment Containment Mapping

WHAT WE NEED:

Auckland Council Environmental Services (ES) is seeking to engage a consulting firm with suitably qualified and experienced staff, to undertake a desktop study leading to the preparation of contaminant source maps. This is split into in three work parcels:

1. 8 focus catchments (Hoteo, Mahurangi, Mahurangi West, Henderson (Upper), Henderson (Lower),Pahurehure (Upper), Pahurehure (Lower), Oakley (sub-catchment of Auckland Catchment))

2. 9 preparatory catchments (Whau, Kaipara, Matakana Upper, Matakana Lower, Upper Waitematā Harbour (Upper), Upper Waitematā Harbour (Lower), Māngere, North Manukau, Ōkura)

3. Catchments contributing to the Manukau receiving environment (excluding those captured in group 1 and 2) (Awhitu, Waiuku, Taihiki, Nihotupu, Huia, Karekare)

The maps, which are to be based on existing available data, will show known sources, loads and source areas of sediment, nutrient, bacteriological, heavy metal and temperature contamination in the fresh waterbodieswater bodies of the catchments, and the relative contribution of each known source to overall contaminant loads in the receiving harbours. The output from the study will be used to identify areas for action and to inform future project planning in focus and preparatory catchments.

No new surveys, monitoring, field investigations or modelling are required as part of this work.
