Buller District Council are seeking proposals for the design and construction services for replacement bridges at Brown Grey River Bridge, Bridge 117 at Route Position 3.7km and the Blue Grey River Bridge, Bridge 120 at Route Position 7.7km. These bridges are located 4Km apart on Palmer Rd. Palmer Road is in the Inangahua Ward and begins at its junction with State Highway 7, approximately 13km west of Springs Junction.
The replacement structures are expected to comprise piled abutments, intermediate supports in the river, and a composite concrete bridge deck supported on steel girders. The scope includes the design and construction of the new bridges, as well as removal of the existing bridges
The Contract Works include design, supply and construction as well as removal of the old bridges in accordance with the Principals Requirements.
Bridge 117 – Brown Grey River Bridge - The minimum requirement for replacement new bridge span arrangements is 2 spans of 15m subject to Contractors Design.
Bridge 120 – Blue Grey River Bridge - The minimum requirement for replacement new bridge span arrangements is 3 spans of 16m subject to Contractors Design.
For both sites, the Contractor’s Designer may consider a single span or multi-span bridge arrangement. Its noted that the resource consent application lodged includes general arrangement plans that show nominate spans and positions of intermediate supports. The Contractors Designer is to consider and confirm actual span arrangements proposed through the Preliminary Design Statement submitted within their response and later confirmed in their Final Design Statement.
