This is an invitation to suitably qualified suppliers to submit a Registration of Interest for the Whakatāne Main Wharf and Ōhope Wharf Reinforced Concrete refurbishment tender process. Both wharves will be included within the tender as separable portions of work. The repair and remediation works include addressing the concrete spalling from the piles, support beams, headstocks and columns and related structures. The remedial work is to address defects with the current structures and provide an ongoing service life to both wharves. Specialist advice has been sought and schedules of repair areas defined and scheduled.
The intent is to repair both wharves using conventional concrete repair methods which will involve:
1. The removal of concrete assumed to be penetrated with chlorides
2. Replacement of the corroded reinforcing
3. Coating of reinforcement
4. Reinstatement of the concrete by spraying or recasting with concrete or mortar
The ROI (stage 1) has been prepared with the key dates shown on the assumption that Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted by the 13 May, being the date shown for the issuing of tenders (stage 2). If Covid-19 restrictions are to apply after this date, WDC reserves the right to amend the dates outlined for stage 2.
