Overview

Tenders are invited from suitably qualified Contractor’s for the works described in this document. Briefly, this
includes the deepening, widening and re-shaping of the Wainui Te Whara Stream. The works include, but are not
limited to, creating temporary accesses and stockpiles, deepening, widening and re-shaping the existing channel,
removal of spoil, placement of riprap, installation of concrete lagging to protect existing bridge abutments and
reinstatement works (including the creation of a shared use path between King St and Hinemoa St). The works
are located along the urban reach of the Wainui Te Whara Stream between Valley Road and Hinemoa Street.
The works are outlined on the drawings appended to the contract documents and generally comprise the
following activities:
 Excavation and shaping of the channel to design widths and depths
 Removal of spoil from site
 Placement of riprap and rock protection
 Installing concrete lagging/panels to protect bridge abutments
 Construction of a new 620m long shared use path
 Reinstatement works including grassing new channel banks
