Overview

Waitemata District Health Board is seeking proposals from suitably experienced Construction Main Contractors for the expansion of the existing Elective Surgery Centre (ESC) at North Shore Hospital. The objective of this ROI is to facilitate a short list of preferred Main Contractors to tender for the construction of the new ESC Expansion project which will be located on the grass area between the existing ESC and multi-story car park building.

The proposed scope of work involves the construction of a new three (3) level building that is connected to (and fully integrated with) the existing ESC. Each level will be approximately 1500m^2 with an estimated construction cost of approximately $29 million. Two new Operating Theatres will also be added at an additional 300m^2, note this is included in the aforementioned construction sum.

The ESC Expansion works include Ground Level clinical area including 4 No. Endoscopic Procedure Suites, reception and administration area, pre-assessment area, recovery (primary and secondary levels), staff and service support areas (office space, meeting rooms, hub/communication room).

Level 1 will include administration and open plan office areas.

Level 2 will include a 30 bed ward with associated staff and service areas.

Also included in the works is full connection to the existing ESC as well as the recently constructed Bridge project connecting to the main NSH Tower block, installation of a temporary clinical tunnel to maintain full access between the existing hospital tower and ESC (this is due to the permanent removal of a section of the recently installed bridge), and 2 No. Operating Theatres to be located adjacent to the existing ESC Ambulance bay.
