The Wellington City Council (WCC) is wishing to construct a new anchored timber pole and lagging retaining wall on Horokiwi Road, Wellington.
In August 2020, GHD Limited (GHD) was engaged by Wellington City Council (WCC) to undertake a geotechnical assessment of a 15 to 20 m long failing area of asphalt adjacent to Horokiwi Road, Horokiwi, Wellington. The failure is located on the down-slope shoulder of Horokiwi Road. Horokiwi Road is located above State Highway 2 (SH2) and is cut into the hillside.
Horokiwi Road is located approximately 9.0 km northeast of Wellington Central. The site of the current failure is along the southern side of the road. The road is narrow and is the only main access route to the Horokiwi Quarry and a small number of rural residential properties.
