Cancer multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs) are recognised as a key point for improving the collection of cancer information to support the delivery of care across the cancer pathway to patients. MDMs have been identified as an activity that produces a rich source of significant clinical information on cancer patients; this is aggregated to support clinical decision making and includes cancer staging, comorbidity and ethnicity data.
We are seeking to identify an MDM management solution that will standardise and streamline administrative processes as per the national ideal state documents resulting from the national cancer MDM project in 2016. We want to reduce the administrative burden of supporting MDMs and release time to care for clinicians and nurses.
There is a particular focus, in an ideal regional state, on the provision of a capability that enables MDM data to be flowed and consolidated into a national collection that will achieve overarching strategic principles and benefits of the New Zealand Cancer Health Information Strategy (CHIS) programme.
The vision for this solution is to standardise, digitise and make accessible cancer data and deliver improved quality of clinical and service delivery information relevant to the cancer pathway across the Midland region.
It will support clinicians and nurses to streamline cancer MDMs, improve clinical decision making and provide accurate data for ‘comprehensive, accessible and accurate information to support the delivery of care across the cancer pathway’.
This RFP is released by Waikato DHB on behalf of Healthshare who is owned by the Midland DHBs (Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Taranaki and Hauora Tairawhiti DHBs).
