This Request for Information (RFI) is for the School of Optometry and Vision Science which is part of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. The School offers a range of courses and research opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Auckland. An important part of the learning process for our students is the opportunity to gain practical clinical experience in a variety of ways including:
Assessment and treatment of clients (patients) at the University of Auckland Optometry Clinics based currently at our Tamaki and Grafton campuses.
Experience of working with the dispensing opticians at the University of Auckland Optometry Clinics.
On-site school screenings.
Placements and externships at public hospitals, private sector optometry companies and other vision related organisations.
Specialist clinics at hospitals and prison facilities.
Participation in other community outreach clinics.
Use of electronic client records
Matching prescriptions to products and ordering products for clients
The University wishes to explore software or service options that may provide better support for the external placement schedule and communications with external placements and internal students and staff. Potentially the suitable solution will be considered for other placement scheduling and timetabling requirements for the medical, engineering and education students in the University.
