Overview

The Queenstown Lake District Council (QLDC) is offering the opportunity for provision of maintenance services for its street and amenity lighting network.
This includes all activities associated with maintaining approximately 5168 lights within the Queenstown Lakes District. This also includes carrying out the streetlighting maintenance work on the NZTA network of 274 lights, as a Separable Portion under this contract which is charged through a separate price schedule, along with replacement and upgrade work as may be requested from time to time.

There is currently a major LED lighting upgrade project being carried out, under a separate contract, on QLDCs standard streetlights, which should see most of these converted to LEDs by 30 June 2019.
NZTA are considering a similar upgrade and may have this carried out under this contract.
It should be noted that after these upgrades there will still be a significant number of non-LED lights mainly on decorative or non-standard poles (which represent approximately 3000 of the 5000 lights). The lights are important from a road safety and resident security point of view and therefore need to be well maintained.

QLDC envisages awarding a contract with an initial 5 year term, commencing on 1 April 2019 with a possible 3 year term extension thereafter. These terms will align with the expiry of the road network maintenance contract.
