The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) is inviting submissions of ROIs to provide and apply a protective coating to the underside of the pre-stressed U-beams of Calliope South Wharf at Devonport Naval Base.

The surface coating to be applied to the underside of the pre-stressed beams is to act as a corrosion inhibitor for the stressed tendons. Silane and siloxane treatments have the potential to extend the service life of reinforced concrete if applied before corrosion damage begins. These types of treatments may significantly reduce the ingress of moisture and chloride ions, thereby extending the time to chloride-induced corrosion.

The works will include:

> Preparation of the surface to receive the coating.
> Application of the surface coating.
