Nelson City Council publishes this advance notice of tender on behalf of the Nelson Tasman Regional Landfill Business Unit.

The Nelson Tasman Regional Landfill Business Unit has been established by the Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council to operate and manage their two landfills.

Nelson City Council intends to invite tenders for the operation and maintenance of the joint landfills (being the York Valley and Eves Valley landfills) within the next 3 months.

York Valley currently accepts the region’s waste (anticipated tonnage of refuse and cover material of around 100,000) with Eves Valley requiring closed landfill aftercare plus being a back-up landfill until York Valley is full (anticipated to be around 2031).

The supplier would need to ensure availability of a suitably reliable landfill compactor to commence the contract, and would need to provide a new compactor operating on site with 16 weeks of written notice to the successful tenderer.

The contractor would need to replace the new compactor at 8000 hrs or five years from start of operation whichever is the reached first.
