Meridian Energy wish to construct a new tailwater level site, 120m downstream of the Te Anau Lake Control structure, on the left bank of the Upper Waiau River, Southland.

The tailwater level site contract will involve the fabrication and installation of a 15m deep, 1.8m diameter steel stilling water well. The well will be connected to the river via two 55m long, 50mm diameter pipes, which will extend 3m into the river. A new 2.5m x 3.5m tilt slab control building will be constructed on top of the well.
The site is located on Meridian land on the bank of the pristine Upper Waiau River and next to the Fiordland National Park / World Heritage Area. All site works will be subject to resource consents and strict environmental management and protection. As the construction effects are best mitigated by the construction methodology, Meridian would like the selected contractor who will manage the works to be involved throughout the consenting process.

Through this Request for Registration of Interest process, Meridian intends to identify interested parties with the required skills to tender for the consenting and construction of the new stilling water well.
