The Government has set the target of all schools providing quality learning environments by 2030. The Ministry of Education is currently piloting a model that captures the following areas:

- asset condition assessment services and tools (eg application for on-site data collection, individual tools to support consistent assessments) as a component of an overall asset lifecycle management solution for school property;
- internal environment sensors/data loggers that can accurately record temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration, sound pressure level (decibels), light and motion;
- systems and toolsets to store data and/or present it in a meaningful way for users, such as an online energy portal that can store and benchmark energy consumption and tariff data for more than 2,100 schools.
