The Board of Trustees at Thames High School are seeking registrations of interest from suitable qualified main building contractors for the stage 2 project to upgrade A Block.
A Block is a 1,620m² two-storey building built in 1980 and the project covers almost all of the building to some extent.
The project involves:
o Replacement of all external timber windows and doors.
o Re-arrangement of the ground floor to form 4 teaching spaces for science, with two smaller senior laboratories which are also breakout spaces.
o Removal of the ground floor toilets and corridor to form a large science faculty area with prep room, resource storage and faculty workroom areas.
o Formation of new toilets, smaller than the existing area, at the west end of the block in space currently arranged as small offices.
o Alteration of A1 to remove tiered seating.
o Installation of a lift for access to the first floor.
o Rearrangement of first floor teaching spaces to form 4 teaching spaces with a large faculty workroom and 4 breakout rooms of varying sizes
o Replacement of stair structure in both stairwells.
o Internal refurbishment of all spaces excepting the foyer which was done as part of Stage 1.
The work is planned to start late 2018 or early 2019 and is expected to take 6 months to complete. Timeframe is negotiable within reason.
