The Contract Works required are:
• Alterations to existing Block D boiler house to suit new boiler layout
• Demolition to parts of existing boiler house and construct new fuel storage facility.
• Accessbile flat site
The existing coal fired boiler has been identified in condition assessment reports that it has reached the end of its economic life and is currently leaking. An energy options report has recommended that a new woodchip fired boiler be installed due to it being the lowest whole of life cost option. The project will be two parts with this procurement being for the main building contractor’s contract for the second part of the project:
Part 2 involves the alterations to existing Block D boiler house to suit the new boiler requirements and woodchip storage facility.
