The Ministry of Education (the Buyer) is seeking registration of interest for Design Services (including structural and services engineering) for the remediation of the covered walkways at Macleans College (the School).
Macleans College is located at 2 Macleans Road, Bucklands Beach, Auckland. The school is co-educational and was the first S80 or whanau house school built in New Zealand. It now has a roll of over 2500 students and the campus is situated on 13 hectares (32 acres) of land.
Covered walkways are located throughout the school and provide sheltered routes to all buildings within the school campus. The walkways also house and reticulate all services for each building.
The cladding that makes up the roof of the walkways is at the end of its life and is failing. Water ingress is causing rot and is damaging the existing services. The roof structure and cladding requires replacement.
The outcome sought for this project is to remediate the covered walkways to prevent water ingress allowing safe use and to protect the services that are vital to the school’s operation.
