Further information:
Thanks to those of you who provided a submission in response to our Request for Information (RFI), relating to the Business Registries Transformation Programme (“the programme”). The objective of this multi-year programme is to establish a business registries system which effectively supports the future needs of the business, and associated regulatory environment, and delivers a high-quality customer experience.

The principal aims of the RFI were to help us to understand 1) what technologies, products or platforms are currently available which could meet the business and technology needs of the programme, and 2) how our assumptions lined up with market maturity and capability. We received a number of responses which challenged our initial thinking, and which helped us to better understand the current business registry-related IT landscape, the range of different technology solutions potentially available to us and the scale of change we would be facing.

As advised in our RFI documentation, we are at the starting point of this programme, which involves gathering and assessing all of the information needed to reliably inform our next steps. This not only involves gaining a sound understanding of potential technological solutions, but also of other key elements within the programme (such as policy/legislation, customer and operating model considerations). An in-depth understanding of each of these elements, and their implications for one another, is essential before being able to proceed with any substantial investment into this programme or engage the market further.

We will be in touch concerning the next stage of the programme once the necessary exploratory work has been completed to the required standard and decisions made in each of these areas. This may take up to 12 months to complete.
