MBIE is seeking information on the interest and capabilities of suppliers of ICT cost transparency tools to ascertain what type of costing solutions could be employed to improve transparency and enable the identification of actionable insights.

ICT spend represents a significant cost to MBIE and has been rising steadily as consumption of ICT services has increased over time. The environment itself is heavily outsourced, involving the management of a large number of service providers. This greatly increases reliance upon vendor-provided data to ensure ICT costs are being managed appropriately. A Commercial Capability Project has been established within the ICT Branch. This project seeks to improve ICT’s commercial capability by providing greater cost transparency and a common terminology - enabling ICT customers and partners to work together effectively and efficiently to support the business of MBIE. The key deliverables of this project include:
• A cost model to translate raw costs into meaningful information for Finance, ICT and the wider business
• An ICT Data Mart containing the inputs and outputs of the costing solution as well as the ability to handle future, disparate data sources
• Standard and ad-hoc reporting providing cost transparency

Through this Request for Information (RFI) process MBIE is seeking to become a more informed buyer, gaining a better understanding of new and innovative ICT cost transparency tools and the possible cost of those tools. Please provide your response to our Point of Contact.
