The 2018 Business Survey is now open! We’d like to hear from you about your experiences regarding New Zealand Government Procurement.

Each year approximately $41 billion is spent on a wide range of goods and services from third party suppliers like yourself. Our aim is to ensure that government delivers value for all New Zealanders while supporting the delivery of better public services through its procurement activity. Working effectively with business is crucial to achieving this goal.

We are seeking feedback from organisations that supply government on how the procurement of goods and services is undertaken across government, including procurement by any government department, ministry, crown entity, district health board, tertiary education institution or local authority, not just the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.

Your feedback helps us focus our efforts to improve government commercial practice. As a response to feedback from past surveys we are:
• Encouraging government agencies to use standardised templates (where appropriate) to reduce duplication and increase clarity in tender documents and contracts.
• Working to benchmark procurement capability in government agencies, assess improvement areas and establish capability initiatives.
• Recognising the importance of procurement of social services by establishing a programme of work build the procurement capability of social sector government agencies.
• Renewing our focus on agencies effectively developing and maintaining supplier relationships especially to deliver critical agency’s needs.

The survey is now open, and will close on Wednesday 10th April 2018. You can respond to this survey on your computer, phone or tablet. We will publish a report outlining the findings of the survey later this year.
