The participating DHBs currently spends an estimated $141k p.a on Foam Cups which accumulate to approximately 4 million foam cups annually that are used in public and staff areas in the hospital. As part of the sustainability movement, both Auckland and Northland DHBs intends to replace Foam Cups with Bio Degradable Cups and Lids.
The objective of this Response Process is to deliver a value for money solution to the Participating DHBs, consistent with the expectations of both the Office of the Auditor-General and DHBs’ obligations to balance ethical and sound commercial practices within a robust, transparent and fair process.
You are invited to provide a proposal in response to this RFP about your business and ability to provide the assured supply of Bio Degradable Cups and Lids
The scope of this RFP is Bio Degradable Cups and Lids for disposable use and that are able to contain both hot and cold liquids. The requirements include:
• Biodegradable product and able to be composted
• Product sourced from responsibly managed plantations and utilises renewable resources in its production.
• Evidence of a low carbon footprint and emission of fewer greenhouse gasses (GHGs) in the manufacture of the product.
• Ability for custom branding that uses no toxic inks
