Privacy Statement

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) will collect and retain personal information provided by you through your use of the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) or collected through the use of cookies to record your visit.

Personal information regarding users may be collected for purposes including:

(a) communicating with you;
(b) personalising your GETS profile and verifying your identity;
(c) to provide Buyers with a basic overview of Suppliers’ profiles;
(d) investigating complaints about you or made by you, or if we suspect you are in breach of the terms and conditions;
(e) managing and enhancing GETS; and
(f) analysing use of GETS.

Personal information will not be made available to any third party in a manner that enables you to be identified except:

(a) where MBIE believes on reasonable grounds that you authorise such disclosure;
(b) where information is disclosed to Buyers as part of a basic overview of Supplier’s profiles;
(c) on a ‘need-to-know’ basis to MBIE’s professional advisors;
(d) where such disclosure is required or permitted by the Privacy Act 1993 or otherwise required or permitted by law; or
(e) to any Buyer or Agent (as defined in the GETS Terms and Conditions of Use) for the purpose of analysing your use of GETS in relation to any of its tenders.

If you do not provide the information requested when you attempt to register, you cannot become a registered user of GETS.

Security

MBIE websites have security measures in place to prevent the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. In order to maintain the cyber security of MBIE systems and information, MBIE systems are subject to ongoing monitoring (including activity logging), analysis and auditing. We may use information about your use of our websites and other IT systems to prevent unauthorised access or attacks on these systems or to resolve such events. We may use this information even if you are not involved in such activity. MBIE may utilise services from one or more 3rd party suppliers to monitor or maintain the cyber security of its systems and information. These 3rd party suppliers will have access to monitoring and logging information as well as information processed on MBIE websites and other IT systems.
