This contract is for the construction of retaining walls and a concrete maintenance pad at the Kopuawhakapata Stream Culvert that runs beneath Hirini Street in Kaiti, Gisborne.
The Gisborne District Council has identified the following objectives for the contract:
• Construction of new sheetpile retaining wall to act as wingwalls beside existing culvert;
• Construction of new precast concrete headwall on top of existing culvert;
• Construction of a new concrete maintenance pad to make maintenance/clearing of culvert inlet easier for maintenance staff;
• Protection of the existing culvert, wingwalls, headwall and surrounding services throughout construction;
• Tie-in with surrounding area and the works already completed as part of the Rakaiatane Road upgrades and improve amenity of the area.
No work may be carried out within the stream bed after 1 May 2020. Absolutely no extension will be granted for works in the stream bed after this date.
