The Department of Conservation will be issuing multiple Requests for Tender (RFT) for suitably qualified contractors to undertake works including boardwalk construction, track surfacing, boxed step construction and various other mitigation measures on walking tracks in Kauri forests in Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Waikato and Great Barrier Island. Numerous RFTs will be issued via GETS, each consisting of a package covering work on one or more sites within an area.

Completion of a Year 2 Contractor Hygiene and Technical Training Workshop by a senior staff member who will be directly leading physical work is mandatory for any organisation wishing to respond to these tenders. Note, the Year 2 Workshop is different from the workshops held during 2016 for Year 1 contracts. Suppliers who were successfully awarded any of the Year 1 contracts do not need to attend a Year 2 Workshop.
