A new dedicated Water Services Regulator (Taumata Arowai) is to be established, which will be responsible for overseeing the entire drinking water regulatory system and providing oversight of the environmental performance of wastewater and stormwater operators.
Taumata Arowai, will not be a legal entity until the Taumata Arowai Water Services Regulator Bill commences, which is scheduled for late 2020. To support the establishment and continued operation of Taumata Arowai, technology investment is required, along with service contracts for the ongoing support of these technology components.
