The Christchurch City Council is seeking a new international-standard reinforced root zone turf playing surface for Christchurch Stadium, to be installed following the last event of the 2018 season (Mitre 10 Cup rugby).

The current reinforced root zone turf playing surface is a combination of new turf and the reinforced root zone product relocated from the earthquake-damaged Lancaster Park. The field has been renovated since installation but is now approaching end of life. The decision has been taken that it ought to be completely replaced to be fit for purpose of the Stadium event calendar in 2019 and beyond.
