1. Information and background
Christchurch City Council (the Council) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI’s) from suitably qualified contractors (Respondents) who are interested in delivering the Richardson Terrace Stormwater Pump Station and Stormfilter to the Council.
This project forms part of the wider Land Drainage Recovery Programme (LDRP) project which seeks to restore the flooding risk in Christchurch to ‘pre-earthquake levels’ (where this relates to the earthquake events beginning in September 2010). The Bells Creek catchment has experienced a greater flood risk since the earthquakes due to subsidence of the ground.
The proposed Richardson Terrace Stormwater Pump Station would receive high stormwater flow from the Bells Creek and Ferry Road catchments when the existing gravity discharge is insufficient and discharge into the Heathcote River. The proposed stormfilter will receive the water quality flow and treat it for contaminants before discharging back into the main pipeline.
