WorkSafe New Zealand (WorkSafe) is seeking information from providers of competency assessment services to help inform decision-making about the best approach for assessing the competency of assessors of a potential new workplace health and safety tool.

This has been developed in collaboration with industry and health and safety experts. We are now considering potential approaches for how the Tool could be delivered in the market. A key part of this approach is for businesses to be able to directly contract private sector assessors to use the Tool to assess their organisations’ health and safety performance.
Assessors require the right mix of technical skills, business acumen, behavioural assessment and consulting skills to undertake assessments. We wish to understand most effective way to assess this mix of skills.
